Pulp Fiction stars gather to mark film's 30th anniversary

On April 18th, local time, the classic film festival hosted by the American TCM channel held a 30th anniversary screening of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. The film's stars John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and Harvey Keitel attended the screening and reviewed the great impact the film had on their respective careers and the historical status of Pulp Fiction itself.

At the audience meeting before the film was screened, Uma Thurman took the lead in saying, "My relationship with this movie has been constantly changing and growing over the past 30 years in my life, so it is really difficult for me to explain what this movie means to me. All in all, I think it changed the development of the film. Every filmmaker I have met since then has been affected to varying degrees by Pulp Fiction."

John Travolta admitted that his film career was at a low ebb before filming Pulp Fiction. "My first film was a success, but after that, I was struggling to find my second spring. It was Quentin who made me soar! After Pulp Fiction, I got so many film offers that it was unbelievable," he recalled.

Afterwards, another leading actor Harvey Keitel recalled with a smile the first time he met the director. It turned out that Tarantino had mispronounced his last name at the time, and he later explained, "But Quentin is such a genius, with the talent to change everything around him. And we are gathered here tonight for the same reason: we respect art, we respect artists. God knows how much our country needs this now. Look at what is happening in the United States every day. This reminds me of the slogan MAGA (Make America Great Again). In fact, I have always been a supporter of MAGA. Make America great again, yes, but to do this, you have to vote for the Democratic Party." Keitel's inflammatory words won cheers from a large number of audiences.

Bruce Willis' wife and daughter also received applause from the audience. The former action star is now living in seclusion due to dementia, and his wife and daughter attended the memorial event on his behalf.

Samuel Jackson repeatedly mentioned his friendship with Bruce Willis during his speech. "It was the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, and I sat with Bruce to watch the premiere of the film. The audience loved it and the atmosphere was very good. But Bruce said to me, 'Yes, this movie will definitely make you famous, but you should act in Die Hard with me, and that will make you a real star.' Later, I really acted in Die Hard 3 with him. Of course, in comparison, my role in Pulp Fiction left a deeper impression on people. This role completely changed my life, and everyone suddenly had such an impression: Samuel Jackson is the coolest and coolest bastard on the planet."

Quentin Tarantino (right) often plays a somewhat "nonsense" character in the films he directs.

It is a pity that director Quentin Tarantino did not attend the event. At about the same time, the media reported that his new film project "The Critic" had been aborted. Back in the spring of last year, Quentin revealed that he had completed the script of the film. The protagonist was a male film critic who wrote for American pornographic magazines in the late 1970s. It was originally scheduled to start shooting last fall. However, the subsequent strike of the Hollywood Writers Guild caused the project to be postponed. On April 17 this year, the media revealed that Tarantino had decided to abandon the project. Starting with "Reservoir Dogs" in 1992, Quentin has completed nine feature films so far. As early as 2009, he said that he planned to retire after making ten films.
