The Future Cinema Unit, a collaboration between the Shanghai International Film Festival and Shanghai Putuo District, was born in 2024. The unit plans virtual reality film screenings and a series of industry sharing activities based on a variety of imaging technologies such as AR, VR, and MR. Through immersive interactive methods and experience forms, it links tradition and modernity, art and technology, allowing the audience to magnify their senses and enjoy the feast of future images in an immersive way.
This year, Future Cinema responded to the call of the National Film Administration's "Notice on Promoting the Orderly Development of Virtual Reality Films" and moved the event into the cinema, aiming to create a "cinema sample", promote the development of virtual reality films, and explore a new paradigm of combining culture, tourism, commerce, sports and exhibitions for cross-border win-win results.

Audience experience
It is worth mentioning that during this Shanghai International Film Festival, the Future Cinema unit also launched an in-depth linkage with the Changfeng Joy City business district, opening up a new solution to the "ticket stub economy": with a receipt of over 100 yuan spent at Changfeng Joy City, you can participate in the Future Cinema reservation, and with the Future Cinema ticket stub, you can exchange for a Suzhou River "Changfeng Park-Changhua Road" section boat ticket or a Suzhou River Industrial Civilization Exhibition Hall souvenir, and you can also enjoy preferential admission to the Suning Art Museum. The full integration of culture, tourism, business, sports and exhibitions has expanded the influence and consumer appeal of the business district market.
