    Chang Yan, director of "Gunshots from the Secrecy Bureau", dies at the age of 92

    According to the official Weibo of Changying Group, Comrade Chang Yan, a member of the Communist Party of China, former vice chairman of Jilin Federation of Literary and Art Circles, former vice chairman of Jilin Film Association, principal director of China Film Association, national first-level director and famous film director of Changying, passed away on October 10 He died at his home in Changchun at 9 a.m. on March 28 at the age of 92.

    Chang Yan, born on January 4, 1932, is from Chaocheng, Shandong. He loved literature and art since he was a child, and later joined the Northeastern Literary and Art Troupe. In January 1949, he was transferred to the Northeast Film Studio (the predecessor of Changying) as an actor with the troupe, and starred in films such as "The Light" and "Defending the Fruits of Victory". In 1952, he went to study photography at the Film School of the Central Cultural Film Bureau. He was the first generation of college students majoring in film and photography trained in New China. In 1956, he was selected by the country to study film photography in Germany. After returning to China in 1959, he successively served as deputy photographer, photographer, director and deputy director of the Art Film Studio of Changying.

    In 1976, he made his first attempt as a feature film director and photographer. In 1979, he successfully directed the hidden front-themed feature film "The Gunshots of the Secret Bureau" (also the cinematographer), and won the 1979 Outstanding Film Award from the Ministry of Culture. Since then, he has successively directed "Love, Heaven, Hate," "Inside the Heart," "Behind the Defendant" (which won the first prize for the Ministry of Culture's 1983 Outstanding Feature Film), "Roadside Guitar Team," "Two-Edged Sword," "Summer Rain, Winter "Dream", "Men Are Confused, Women Are Confused", "Ghost House" and other more than 10 film and television works, have won the Changying Xiaobaihua Award for Outstanding Film Award and Best Director Award many times. In 1985, he was selected as the second batch of young and middle-aged professional and technical talents with outstanding contributions in Jilin Province. He has published books such as "Autobiography of a Film Director" and "Collection of Chang Yan's Film Essays".

    Comrade Chang Yan's farewell ceremony will be held at the Changchun Funeral Home on the morning of October 30.
