    Shanghai International Film Festival opens dialogue on light and shadow art with Chinese and foreign film masters

    Film is the carrier of art and soul. In front of the screen, we believe because we see it, we are touched because we hear it, and tears fill our eyes because we empathize with it. The 25th Shanghai International Film Festival Film School, Chen Kexin, Yierdiko Yinyedi, Zhang Lu, and Miyake Sang, four Chinese and foreign film masters will embark on a journey of light and shadow art with us, share their creative process, and reveal the secrets of films Behind-the-scenes exploration and perception.

    Chen Kexin Master Class

    Time: June 11 (Sunday) 10:00-11:30

    Chen Kexin (Ho-sun CHAN), director and producer. Among the 17 directed works and nearly 40 produced works, he has been nominated for more than 400 awards and won more than 230 awards. Award-winning works include "Sweet Honey" (1996), "If Love" (2005), "Voice of Name" (2007), "Martial Arts" (2011), "Chinese Partner" (2013), "Dear" (2014 ), "Win the Championship" (2020), etc. His supervised production works include "Damn" (2002), "Disciple" (2007), "October Siege" (2009), "July and Ansheng" (2016), Iwai Shunji "Hello, Zhihua" (2018) wait.

    With nearly forty years of film career, director Chen Kexin has traveled all over China and the international film world. From children running around in the crew, to teenagers watching movies in theaters; from summer jobs in film companies, to assistants, producers, and supervisors; For him, movies may be ignorant dreams in his childhood memory, a fire burning in the heart of a teenager, and a boat that accompanies his life.     Iltiko Inyedi Master Class

    Time: June 13 (Tuesday) 10:00-11:30

    Ildikó Enyedi, Hungarian director and screenwriter. His first film "My Twentieth Century" written and directed by himself won the Golden Camera Award at the 42nd Cannes Film Festival and was selected as one of the 12 best films in the history of Hungarian film. Since 1990, she has won more than 30 international awards for her films "Magic Hunter", "Love at the End of the World" and "The Love of the Magician Simon" and some short films. After a period of precipitation, she returned to filmmaking with "Flesh and Soul", which was nominated for the Golden Bear Award at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival and the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards. In 2021, the film "My Wife's Tale" directed by him will be shortlisted for the main competition unit of the 74th Cannes Film Festival. Inyedi has served as a judge for several international film festivals, and in 2023 will serve as the chairman of the jury for the short film competition unit of the Cannes Film Festival.

    Fiction and reality coexist, philosophical thinking complement each other. Through gentle and delicate narration, Inyedi is creative and imaginative, sometimes reshaping history in fantasy, and sometimes spying on people's hearts in dreams. In 2018, Yin Yedi was invited to serve as a judge of the main competition unit of the Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Award, and "taste" movies with countless Shanghai audiences. Today, 5 years later, Yin Yedi is pleased to come to Shanghai again to attend the master class of the Shanghai Film Festival and "talk" with us to create.

    Zhang Lv Master Class

    Time: June 16 (Friday) 19:00-20:30

    Venue: Jinjue Hall, Crowne Plaza Shanghai Silver Star

    Zhang Lu, director and screenwriter. In 2001, he shot the short film "11 Years Old", which was shortlisted for the short film competition unit of the 58th Venice International Film Festival. Since 2004, many films directed by him have been shortlisted for Locarno International Film Festival, Cannes International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival "New Wave" and won the Asian Best New Director Award. In 2021, the film "A Long Confession" which he acted as director and screenwriter won the Best Small and Medium Cost Feature Film Award at the 35th China Film Golden Rooster Awards. In 2023, the new work "The Light of the White Tower" was shortlisted for the main competition unit of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival and the main competition unit of the Beijing International Film Festival, and finally won five Tiantan Awards.

    "Wherever life takes me, I will take pictures." Over the past 20 years, the audience has also been following director Zhang Lu, wandering around, meeting people coming and going in the movie, witnessing their life and love, and also feeling their wandering. Under the turbulent lens, people of different nationalities and countries live calmly, with joy and anger, love and hatred, separation and reunion all flowing freely.     Sang Miyake Master Class

    Time: June 17 (Saturday) 10:00-11:30

    Venue: Jinjue Hall, Crowne Plaza Shanghai Silver Star

    Sho Miyake, Japanese director and screenwriter. In 2012, he directed his first feature film "Replay", which was selected into the Locarno International Film Festival competition. In 2018, his feature film "Your Bird Can Sing" was shortlisted for the Berlin International Film Festival Forum. Other works directed by him include the music documentary "Cockpit" (2014), which was selected into the newcomer director unit of the Paris Real Film Festival, and the costume drama "The Emissary and the Watcher" (2017). His new work "Keiko, Gaze" (2022) was shortlisted for the Berlin International Film Festival's Encounter section. In January 2019, "Your Bird Can Sing" was selected into the "New Japanese Film Exhibition" jointly organized by the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival. This year, "Keiko, Gaze" was selected into the first batch of films in the "Essence of the Film Festival" section of the International Film Festival at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

    We were moved by the youthful rhythm and singing in the summer, and we burst into tears for Keiko who stumbled out of the haze. This is their story, and it is our story. Miyake sang the master class, we felt it in watching the movie, and traced the source in communication.
